Title: Engine swap
Post by: Keegan on July 07, 2020, 05:55:18 pm
So I have a 1.7i and i was wondering whats a good option for an engine swap while still keeping the stock driveline.
Was wondering how big you can go and how you would connect a new gearbox to the lada

Its a lot of work as the front diff bolts to the engine,

If you have engine issues rather repair it, much cheaper in the long run, and easier for others to assist you. (compared to nissan engine with ford clutch and toyota radiator etc, that type of modification is a pain in the ass, as every time you need assistance with a part..... its a non standard part. )

If you want power try a better cam shaft, and make sure all your driveline components are in good nick as the friction losses could be eating your power.

Hi Ari, It is not very often i post, but your answer will be the best to come along. Small mods are OK but major changes can be a pain especially for a new owner when the vehicle is sold. Best regards. Ronnie

From most of the engine swaps I've seen that front diff mounting to the engine is the problem and somehow getting a different gearbox to fit. A lot of people have done amazing things to these ladas but a lot end up with no solution.

...I've only had a lada for 2 months so do correct on this stuff    :P

That is reasonably accurate, a lot end up with a mess and cashflow issue (these things always cost more than planned) and struggle to sell it then as no-one wants a half finished project
