Title: FM Antenna
Post by: Keegan on August 01, 2020, 02:20:14 pm
So my Lada came with a pretty good radio just no antenna. I've got one that I want to put on the back of the roof but I'm realizing that trying to take the headlining off to mount the antenna might leave me without a headlining. Most of the Ladas I see have antennas on the bonnet and i see why now.

Any Advice  :'(
(I think the headlining is glued on)

The headlining is a plastic material stretched over 5 metal rods, but its really hard to put back. I would suggest that you go for the front option, along the A-pillar.

Why not just fit an indoor car antenna....Midas sells them...I'm ysing ine in ny Tata and its reception is pretty good....you stick it to the inside if the windscreen bext to the roof pillar ...or if the cable is ling enough above the mirror .....

Ive thought of a wireless antenna but the antenna i bought gets really good signal.

I clipped the boot seal off and I see the headlining is glued onto a lip. I just need to get enough off to tighten the nut underneath the antenna after i drill a hole for it.
Then hopefully itll just glue back on and i can hide it with  the boot seal.

You can do that....but be very careful wit that and don't rush the job as to avoid mistakes...

I've used an internal one for years but the connection to the back of the radio broke at a bad spot. They work just fine but struggle a bit in rural areas.

It worked pretty well.I peeled off the lip of the headlining and undid a clip for the metal strut with a screwdriver. From there you just drill the hole and lead the cable down to the left.

For anyone who sees this post and wants to do it just be very careful when pealing off that lip-if you cut it to far you cant hide it with the boot seal
Also GemKem works really well to stick it

Please seal the hole in the roof really well, Keegan 🙏
I’ve seen Ladas rusted to scrap after having holes drilled in the roof. Water always finds a way in 😱

Get windscreen silicone from PG Autoglass....expensive gly but worth the price....only have to seal it one time and forget about it ever leaking again...
