Window winders ..... problems
« on: January 10, 2014, 06:19:33 am »
Hi guys, can anyone possibly tell me whether there is a way to replace the existing winder system on a Niva 1700 1998 or will I HAVE to look for a new set? The handle fittings on mine are totally disintegrated.

Gene, Hi, Welcome to the forum.

Is it just the plastic handles that are broken, or the stud that runs through the door panel?

There are a few parts suppliers around, look at the parts suppliers list on the forum, I know Reg Dodd might have a few spare oem mechanisms lying around.

Hi TheGene.
Replaced the original winders on CERATOTH (which were always giving problems) with ones from a TOYOTA mini bus taxi. Had to drill a couple of new holes and they now open with a gear mechanism rather than the original cables. I just have to grease them once a year.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
keith and CERATOTH
