2000 Niva 1.7i clutch issue
« on: August 15, 2019, 03:01:43 pm »
My release bearing is making a bit of a noise and I suspect I’m going to have to change it. Any advice or info on what to do and what not to do. I’m planning to do it one evening after work.

The normal clutch change procedure....just check and make sure you don't have to do it again....while you at it have the clutch plate relined with new lining and skim the flywheel and pressure plate at Silverton Radiators....otherwise you may have to open up again too soon again...remember the new thrust bearing...

You can also take the clutch kit to CBS

if you currently have no vibration issues, mark the transfer case mountings with tippex or other marker, so you can get it in the same spot again.

basic procedure:
loosen the props,
remove interior plastic around the gearlevers
loosen the cv from the transfer case (TC) 4x m8 nuts
drop the TC
loosen the gearbox ancillaries
pull the gearbox out backwards

While available remove the plastic cap on the intermediate shaft CV and push some grease in

Regards

Its easier if you are 2 people or have access to a pit in the garage
