LOCSA and the COVID-19 virus - 17/03/2020

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 162 countries and territories around the world and 1 international conveyance (the Diamond Princess cruise ship harbored in Yokohama, Japan).

The President of South Africa declared a National State of Disaster in the country Sunday evening, with serious regulations being put in place to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.  Some of these measures include travelling restrictions, prohibiting meetings of 100 or more, intensifying personal hygiene and preventing close personal contact.

LOCSA has recently been very active arranging events. We unfortunately have to inform all members that no new events will be organised until further notice. Current events that have been planned and organised will stay on the calendar until further notice. These events are the National LOCSA event and the Cars in the Park event.
The organisers will provide on time information when required.

We decided to inform you this as we all have the responsibility to look after each other. If we keep to the rules and regulations that have been set out by the world health organisation then normal life will be able to continue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we need to keep in mind the financial consequences of the outbreak. Assist local business, assist club members if possible.
We urge all to maintain good health, to change your behaviour and to regularly wash your hands.  Should you feel unwell, with a high fever and dry cough, we recommend that you consult your doctor. Even if you feel strong and healthy for the safety of the more venerable people out there. That’s really important.

Then lastly we like to thank members regarding their behaviour regarding the outbreak. Not spreading fake news and posts that might cause fear. It’s good to see that the usual chit chat and assistance is given on the different groups continues as usual. Keep doing that! And keep helping each other where possible.

This is a time that we should look further then our different backgrounds and different opinions, a time to keep the general interest above our own interest and a time to give space and trust to the people that under hectic circumstances are doing what they can to assist others and keep the people save. Your general cleaner, doctors, Police and other officials, thank them for their services, show the good will of the LOCSA members and club we stand for.

We like to end with this statement, with all the uncertainties currently happening there is one thing certain, the challenge we all facing is big, we all have to face this together, together will all get through this. Look after each other.
