Window winder mechanism needed
« on: January 12, 2015, 01:21:44 pm »
Hi All.

After a fairly quite couple of months, where Olga has been problem free, she decided the other day to give me a headache for no reason.

When I tried to wind the window up, it was just stuck.  I removed the door pannel and saw that not only was the cable snapped, but almost half of the teeth on the one gear was gone.  So now I am looking for one.

Does any one have a spare, as Olga already has so many mods, I would like to keep standard what I can, or what is the easiest replacement mechanism to put in?
Regards

Riaan and Olga

Hi Riaan,
CERATOTH has a Toyota Minibus gear mechanism on the driver's side.
Needed a couple of new holes and does need to be kept 'tightened up', which I do when I give her the annual service.
Regards and best wishes to all at LOCSA for 2015.
Keith and CERATOTH.

Dear All,
Good day
I also need to replace the Window Mechanism on the RH Door of our Lada. Bought a Jetta Replacement today. Will try to figure it out after work. Think there's a part missing. The Rail for keep the Window in Posistion
Wil post an update over the week-end after fitting the Window

Hi Steve,

If you can find two quarter front window frames with frames without rust, I am prepared to part ways with a front door, without rust. The window winder is still in fairly good working order. I must warn you though - these doors are quote heavy and transport cost might cost you an arm and a leg...

The Jetta winder could be a much cheaper and better option  , so I will understand if you rather decide to go that route.

My Lada is now 15 years old. I'm still the original owner. The cable on the front door window of my Lada also snapped today. Has anyone posted how to replace the Jetta 2 back door winder that is mentioned in this post?
Second question, would it be better to get the original part from Pavel?

Christiaan,

I'd order from a supplier. But if you  need to do the mod, it's on the old proboards forum. You can still search the forum. You will find various other options as well. If the pulleys are OK, I'm sure Conrad can hook you up with a cable?

Hi

If you decide to order form Pavel, we do regular bulk orders from him to save on postage.  If you interested, PM me and I will provide details, next order is at the end of Jan and delivery typically takes 6 weeks.

Tjeers
